Want to get your writing published in Australian literary journals? Join Sydney Review of Books editor Dr James Jiang for a practical, hands-on workshop designed to help you craft the perfect pitch.

In this free 90-minute session, James will introduce you to the world of Australian literary journals before diving into the art of pitching. You’ll learn key principles for writing compelling pitches, then put them into action in a collaborative workshopping activity. Attendees will pair up to edit each other’s pitches with guidance from James—so please come with a pitch (no more than 200 words) to share and refine.

Program:
– 15 mins: Introduction to Australian literary journals
– 30 mins: The art of the pitch
– 30 mins: Workshopping in pairs
– 15 mins: Summary + Q&A

About the facilitator:
Dr James Jiang edits the Sydney Review of Books, based in the Writing and Society Research Centre at Western Sydney University. He has previously worked as an editor at Griffith Review and Australian Book Review. Before becoming an editor, he was an academic in literary studies, teaching at the University of Melbourne. He received his BA from Yale and his PhD from Cambridge.
