Event description

Getting your design work featured in media isn't just about having great work—it's about knowing how to present it in a way that editors can't ignore. But for many designers, pitching to media feels like shouting into the void.

Join Dr Nathan James Crane, award-winning writer and luxury strategist, for an insider's guide to getting your work published. With his unique perspective as both a published design writer for prestigious publications like Artichoke, The Adelaide Review, and LUXURY, and as a practicing designer, Nathan understands both sides of the editorial equation.

In this practical session, you'll discover:

  • What editors are really looking for (and why most pitches miss the mark)

  • How to craft a story angle that transforms your project from "nice work" to "must publish"

  • The anatomy of a pitch that gets opened, read, and acted upon

  • Timing, follow-up, and building relationships with editorial teams

  • Common pitching mistakes that kill your chances before you start

  • How to position your work within broader cultural and design conversations

Nathan will share real examples from his editorial experience, revealing what makes certain submissions irresistible and others instantly forgettable. Whether you're looking to build your profile, attract new clients, or simply get the recognition your work deserves, this session will give you the tools to cut through the noise.

This isn't about generic PR advice—it's about understanding the specific mindset of design media and crafting pitches that speak directly to what they need. By the end, you'll have a clear roadmap for turning your best projects into published features.

Perfect for designers, architects, and creative professionals ready to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight.
