Event description

Pitching With Purpose!

For early stage startups, this series of 4 interactive workshops held in-person at the Western Sydney Startup Hub focuses on the skills, techniques and processes you can use to define your investor pitch content, structure and narratives. Each session contains both theoretical sections and practical exercises and is open to 30 people only.

The sessions are facilitated by Peter Browne, a professional Pitch Coach and Trainer who has been working with startup founders in Asia since 2012 and in Australia since 2019.

In addition to the 4 workshop sessions, Peter will conduct 1 hour 1:1 coaching sessions with 10 startups (see below).

Tickets are limited, so to be fair to others please ensure you can attend in-person before booking. You may attend more than one workshop - each workshop will need to be booked separately.

Thursday, 11 May 2023, 9:30am - 11:00am - Prepare For Market

Exploring LEAN Canvas, Customer Discovery and OKR (Objectives and Key Results). These 3 processes develop the foundation of your business and generate validated pitch content and data you will use in your pitch.

Thursday, 18 May, 9:30am - 11:00am - Elevator Pitch

Articulating the key elements of your business is fundamental to investors’ understanding of your opportunity. In practical exercises you will explore the content elements that define your value proposition and elevator pitch.

Thursday, 25 May 2023, 9:30am - 11:00am - Investor Pitch

In this session we look at the key information investors want to know. We will explore the content areas and narrative elements that bring a pitch to life. You will develop impactful statements that define your complete business opportunity.

Thursday, 1 June 2023, 9:30am - 11:00am - The Right Deck

Your Deck can clarify or confuse your pitch. We take a deep dive into developing slides that clarify your opportunity and we look closely at the difference between a Pitch Deck that you use when pitching and an Investor Deck that you send to investors.

Ultimately, these workshop sessions aim to develop confidence, and belief in your startup, your content and in yourself.

KEY TAKEAWAYS INCLUDE

  • Customer Engagement – use LEAN Canvas and OKR to validate your startup with customers
  • Elevator Pitch – how to define the key value you bring to customers
  • Pitch Content – what are the key content elements I need in my pitch
  • Storytelling – narrative and dramatic mechanisms to engage your audience
  • Pitch & Investor Deck – how to visualise your pitch so your audience understands your content
  • Pitching Skills – how to exercise voice, physical presence and gesture control to engage your audience

1:1 Private Coaching

Following the workshop sessions, a 1 hour 1:1 Pitch Coaching session with Peter Browne will be offered to 10 startups who participated in the workshops. The link to book 1:1 sessions will be available towards the end of the workshop series.

In these sessions, you will present your pitch and receive specific feedback on content, structure, visual support (slides) and pitch delivery.

The sessions are highly personalised, giving practical guidance and direction to improve pitch content, slides and delivery, reinforcement of strengths and focused commentary on how to overcome individual challenges.
