Event description

Immerse yourself in a day of inspiration and transformation at PIVOT: Passion to Practice, a one-day conference crafted to empower and upskill young and emerging artists and arts workers. Presented by Propel Youth Arts WA, the event will take place on Saturday, 2nd December 2023, at The Platform in East Perth, from 9am to 5pm.

Learn from seasoned multiform artists and arts industry professionals in a full-day program of thought-provoking panels, enlightening keynote speeches, interactive discussions, and invaluable networking opportunities. You'll not only learn how to translate your passion into practice but also construct the blueprint for establishing your own presence in the industry and setting the course for a sustainable creative career.

If you are aged 16 to 30 and are an emerging creative, artist, arts manager, or if you are an emerging practitioner within the first five years of your career, PIVOT: Passion to Practice is for you. This year’s program connects you with some of the best and brightest in WA’s arts landscape and lets you interact with speakers with a broad range of professional and lived experiences.

You will meet Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa (writer, performer, producer, and Executive Director at The Blue Room Theatre), Flewnt (award-winning Noongar and Wongi hip-hop artist and activist), Laura Boynes (independent dance artist, choreographer and disability arts worker), Nirrimi Firebrace (multifaceted artist and photographer who’s worked with brands such as Netflix and Sony), and Tyrown Waigana (Wandandi Noongar and Ait Koedal graphic designer, illustrator and sculptor). Don’t miss this opportunity to gain insights and advice from these amazing artists and many others too.

Light refreshments will be provided and attendees will receive a complimentary event day goodie bag packed with resources and stationery on the day, plus exclusive early-bird access to Propel's newest resource hub, the PIVOT Digital Toolkit (PDT), which will then be launched as a resource for all Propel Youth Arts WA members in early 2024.

As 2023 draws to a close, PIVOT: Passion to Practice arms you with the resources and connections necessary to step confidently into the new year, prepared to nurture your creative pursuits.

Transform your artistic career with this opportunity to ignite your creative spirit, upskill within your field, and connect with fellow practitioners and producers who share your unwavering passion for the arts.
