Event description

Got something to say? Say it in a zine!

"Zines" are small, self-made publications that express anything worth expressing. Intrigued? Grab a slice and join multidisciplinary artist Sophie Minissale to make your own!

Participants aged 13-17 are invited to get the hands-on skills to create authentic, fun and collaborative zines. Centre for Stories and Sophie have run one zine workshop before, and it was a fan favourite. This time will be even better, there’s pizza! 🍕

As part of The Spark, this workshop is funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and Healthway. This means everything (down to the last pepperoni) is completely FREE for you!

Pizza & Zines will be held at the gorgeous Fremantle Library from 1-3:30 pm on 17 July 2025.

Participation is FREE but limited. Make sure to sign up now to book your spot!

What to bring?

  • Yourself and your ideas!

  • All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own supplies if you prefer.

  • If you like typing your ideas, you can bring your own device (though it’s not necessary).

Sophie Minissale is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist from Boorloo / Perth. Sophie joined the youth literary publication/zine Pulch in 2020 as an Assistant Editor, assuming leadership of the project in 2021, securing funding to create a pilot print edition of the Mag, and were lucky enough to usher in the next generation for 2022. Sophie was a finalist for the 2022 Creative Contribution Award at the WA Youth Awards, recognising her skill, passion, and commitment to the local arts community. In 2023, she won the ‘Outstanding Producer’ award for her work at The Blue Room Theatre. Sophie had the privilege to program the 2023 KickstART Festival from Propel Youth Arts WA in her role as the Creative Coordinator, programming a state-wide youth arts and culture festival.  Sophie’s day job is in local government, where she works in youth cultural and social development.
