Place-based Inquiry at the Cultural Centre

What a meaningful way to end Term 2 and plan ahead for Term 3!

On the eve of WA Day celebrations and commemorations, we invite you and your colleagues to join us for an immersive day of professional learning, based at The State Library of WA exploring the surroundings and diverse cultural heritage of the Northbridge Cultural Precinct.

This interactive workshop will provide teachers with opportunities to broaden their knowledge and be inspired with practical ideas for excursions and classroom learning, presented by the SLWA Education team, before heading off on an Inquiry journey, to question, collect data and analyse sources from Boola Bardip and our Chinatown lunch stop.

Maree Whiteley, Curriculum and Pedagogy Consultant will skillfully guide you through a planning session to explore relevant WA Curriculum links and resources to add inquiry-based learning ideas to your year-level planning, with a 3D Curriculum lens, combining HASS, General Capabilities (GCs) and the Cross Curriculum Priorities (CCPs).

Based on Kath Murdoch's Inquiry Cycle, key concepts, and the 'big ideas' from our morning session of immersive experiences and data collecting, we will co-design a meaningful inquiry focus for your students to explore and document their learning for Term 3 and beyond.

This workshop includes the option of a follow-up, school-based planning session for your teaching team with Maree Whiteley, at a mutually agreed date to be confirmed.

Morning tea and lunch are provided.

Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. Bring a water bottle.
