Event description

In one month, we will hold our final shows, before closing forever. Thank you to everyone who has allowed Season Three to mean something to them, over the past eighteen months. These last shows are a considered attempt to go out at the very apex of our ambition, and to create memories we hope will endure long after our little space becomes… offices, probably. Here’s some words:

Night three - Sunday, May 11th

This last-ever show is “for us”. A compilation of highlights from our time doing this. I hope you’ll come.

Words fail me, concerning Beagle Vortex. From a few fragments of video at a house show, to a single appearance here, this is a project deft in it’s subtety and utterly captivating in execution.

Similarly, we’ve only asked Lisa (aka Lake Kelly) to carry her harp up the S3 stairs once before - but the set stands in my memory as one of the most transfixing things we’ve had the fortune to showcase. Thank you to both projects for coming back to say goodbye.

Blue Diner - honestly, how could we not? Their Morningside single launch was, I think, the most alive this room has ever felt. The songs, the performance, the genuinely incredible people… I have all the time in the world for this band, and they’re the true “headliner” of our farewell night.

…which brings me to Plainer playing. We were the first band to play a note of music in the space, and then the first band at the first show held here. After everything that James and I have been so fortunate to be able to facilitate here, the project we do together (with many others) be bookending the room’s tenure as a venue as well. Thanks for your understanding of a rare moment of pure self-indulgence. We’ll do our best to be worthy of it.

And then, for the last time here, I will put on the same record I end every show with. We will pack up, pack down, focus on what we can do next. If you cannot make any of these farewells, if you are somehow at all three, or anything between - thank you for being a part of a daft dream that somehow lasted a minute. It’s been an honour beyond measure.
