Planning Ahead for Your Family | Warilla
Description
About this workshop
If something unexpected happened tomorrow, would your family know where to find the information they need?
Would they know where your important documents are kept, which accounts you have, who to contact or how to begin sorting through your digital life?
Most of us have this information somewhere — but it's often scattered across folders, filing cabinets, phones, email accounts and even scraps of paper.
Planning Ahead for Your Family is a friendly, practical workshop designed to help you start bringing that information together.
This isn't about handing over your passwords or private information.
It's about creating a clear roadmap so the people you trust know what exists, where to find it and what to do if they ever need to step in.
And you won't just sit and listen. You'll work through practical activities during the session and leave having already started your own plan.
What we'll cover
During the workshop, you'll learn:
What information your family may need in an emergency
The difference between recording information and giving someone access
How to identify your most important accounts and documents
Where important information should be kept
How to record key contacts
What happens to some online accounts if you die or can no longer manage them
Digital legacy and trusted/legacy contacts
How to make your wishes and information easier for family to find
Simple ways to keep your plan up to date
What you'll do
Activity 1 – The "Would My Family Know?" Check
We'll work through a practical checklist.
Would someone you trust know:
Where your important documents are?
Which bank and financial accounts you use?
Where your passwords are managed?
Which email address is your main account?
Where your photos are stored?
Which subscriptions and recurring bills you have?
Who your important contacts are?
You'll identify the gaps that need attention.
Activity 2 – My Important Information Map
Rather than writing sensitive information into the workshop booklet, you'll create a simple map showing where things are kept.
For example:
Will → solicitor / filing cabinet
Passwords → password manager / password book
Insurance → document folder
Photos → Google Photos
The goal is not to put everything in one document. It's to create a roadmap.
Activity 3 – My Trusted Person Plan
Identify:
Who would I trust to help if I couldn't manage my digital affairs myself?
Then consider what that person would need to know — and what conversation you may need to have with them.
Your Digital Win
Before you leave, you'll identify:
One trusted person who should know where your important information can be found — and the first three things you need to organise for them.
That's a powerful piece of planning you can complete immediately.
