Event description

SJ Library Services have partnered with Switch Your Thinking to present Plant a Native Verge Garden - Why/How?

Keep your street cool and support the local environment by transforming your front verge into a thriving garden!

Did you know that Perth has the lowest amount of tree canopy than any other Australian capital?

Planting a verge with low growing plants, either native or even vegetables, can help address the Urban Heat Island effect caused by loss of tree canopy and installation of hard stand roads, concrete and paving.

Find out what you can do to change your verge into a thriving and beautiful site that helps cool down your street and attracts a bounty of diverse life.

This workshop’s topics will include the benefits of verge planting with native species, how to get started, council regulations and assistance to plant verges.

Bring your family and friends along and get motivated by the stunning native plants you can grow on your verge. Turn your home into a patch of paradise and help reduce the heat on your street!

This workshop is presented by Robyn Brown (Waste is my Resource) on behalf of Switch Your Thinking.
