Plant-based, low-waste cooking demonstration
Event description
Are you struggling to make the most of your produce or stuck making the same tired meals? Come along to this partially hands-on cooking demonstration to learn delicious plant-based pizza recipes. A plant-based diet is great for the earth and animal welfare, can save you money, and it can also give you more opportunities to use up more of your produce and avoid accidental food waste.
Our presenter Scott Hitchins has been working with sustainable, food-producing gardens for most of his life. You may know Scott from his popular Gardening and Sustainability workshops, but he is also an experienced cook, having run a catering business, taught Tafe-level Hospitality, and run the very popular Harmony Feast for nearly a decade. He prepares tasty produce-driven dishes with a focus on Seasonal & Sustainable Eating in a manner that suits all budgets and all family members. Influences from many cultures permeate his cooking, as does an interest is using all parts of the produce at hand.
This event is brought to you by the My Smart Garden program, which is a free educational gardening program that can help you to grow food, shelter your home from the sun and wind, create local habitats, reduce waste and use water wisely. Check out our website to access free events, articles, videos and a newsletter!
Please feel free to bring any surplus produce, seeds, cuttings, plants, gardening magazines etc. to swap and share!
