Lake Merritt Plant Walk Pop Up
Lake Merritt Plant Walk Pop Up
Spring is here and the neighborhood is buzzing with blooming plants, pollinators and people out on adventures. Are you curious about the medicinal properties of the plants around us here in Oakland? Join The Herbal Chaplain for a gentle plant walk around the Lake Merritt neighborhood and learn more about the ways to work with and nurture the plants that are blossoming all around us. Together we will slow down, meet the plants growing around the neighborhood, and learn simple ways of observing and working with the plants as medicine. Devlyn will draw upon traditional practices about plant medicine from their Irish ancestors and over 15 years of practice as an herbalist. Read more about Devlyn’s background here
Accessibility: The walk will go for an hour and will cover about a mile give or take. We will be on pavement and on grassy areas. There will be background noice from the street and neighborhood as we walk. Please reach out in advance if you have specific access needs and we will do our best to support participation.
Where and When: We will meet right outside the Rotary Nature Center along the lake and leave just shortly after we begin, so be sure to arrive on time!
What to bring: Dress appropriately for the weather, bring a snack or water if you may need that and a notepad and pen if you would like to take notes. We won’t have any recording allowed and you are most welcome to take your own photos of the plants but not participants in the group unless you have explicit permission.
Another note: if you don’t want to sign up through this platform, feel free to email me directly to signup directly. Herbalchaplain@gmail.com
Cost: There is no cost for this event, however Dana or donations to help make other plant walks possible is much appreciated. Please consider sharing a donation if you can!
