Planting a native garden to attract woodland birds
Event description
John Shepherd is a retired geotechnical engineer, and one of his hobbies for the past 14 years has been bird surveying (atlassing) for Bird Life Australia especially the woodland species.
He began with a Southern Highlands Landcare Group he convened in 2008 and since moving to Thurgoona he was President of Ovens and Murray Branch of Birdlife until 2021.
He has trained schoolchildren in bird watching, helped to start the Birds on Farms Southern NSW project and run numerous birdwatching outings on farms and public reserves. His knowledge and enthusiasm are infectious!
It is hoped that newcomers to Wooragee will benefit from his presentation, in planning a bird-friendly habitat around their property to attract and support local birds. It can be a lifetime hobby!
Arrive early, the talk will start at 6pm.
Afterwards, stay for a chat and the famous Wooragee Landcare refreshments!
Please register for seating and catering.
