Planting of street verge on Beaumont Rd
Event description
Please come along and join with other Green Pakapakanthi volunteers on Saturday morning May 31st from 9.30am -12pm to plant the Beaumont Rd verge between Parks 16 and 17
If you would like to participate, you need to register here at Humanitix. Family and friends are welcome. Note, however, that each volunteer needs to be registered separately for insurance purposes.
This City of Adelaide project is designed primarily to beautify and cool the street, and enhance the experience of pedestrians and cyclists using the Adelaide Park Lands Trail that crosses Beaumont Rd at this point. It will also contribute to biodiversity in this special corner of the Park Lands (Key Biodiversity Area 1), complementing the extensive understory planting already undertaken by the City of Adelaide along the South Park Lands Creek, and the Miyawaki pocket forests planted in the Victoria Park wetland by Green Pakapakanthi volunteers in 2023-24. Hopefully these islands and corridors of native shrubs will begin to attract small native birds to this part of the city.
Please bring your own trowel and gardening gloves if you have them (City of Adelaide will have a supply on the day, if you don’t), wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Planting will proceed if there is light rain. (You will be contacted on Friday 30th In the unlikely event that heavy rain or lightning is forecast, and the event needs to be postponed.)
