Plaster Casting Workshop
Event description
Join us for an afternoon of playing with plaster and play dough! Metal artist Julia Paloma will be giving a free workshop where participants will get to make handheld sculptures using play dough and then learn how to cast them in plaster.
This workshop is hosted by The Beautiful Cat, a window gallery in Edgewater. Paloma's work is currently on display in the gallery's windows. Paloma wants the people who see her show to know that they too can make art! That's why we're putting on this free workshop to help celebrate her exhibition, My Toe is on the Trip Wire. Learn more about the exhibition, on view from June 28-July 31, 2025, at TheBCat.Gallery.
**While masks are not required for the entire workshop, they will be required while we work with plaster in its powdered form. Plaster is non-toxic but contains silica, so bring a well-fitting N95. Limited adult and child N95s will be available for free. HEPA filtration will also be onsite.
Note that the World Music Foundation has a short flight of 3-4 steps to enter and exit the venue. A bathroom is onsite.
