Plastic Free July Kick Off Event!
Event description
Join the movement - Plastic Free July starts here!
Wastebusters is hosting a feel-good launch event to kick off Plastic Free July in Wānaka, and you’re invited.
We’ll be joined by guest speakers from WAI Wānaka, sharing why this mahi matters for our local environment, and SUCfree, offering practical tips on swapping out single-use items and helping you start strong.
This is more than just an event. It’s the start of a month-long community challenge to reduce single-use plastics. Like a New Year’s resolution (but way more fun), it’s all about progress, not perfection, and doing it together.
Whether you’re curious about making a change or already on your journey, the launch event is a chance to get inspired, pick up practical ideas, and connect with others doing the same. You’ll get everything you need to take part, from tips on tracking your plastic use to motivation for trying a few easy swaps.
Once you’re in, how you take part is up to you. You might track your plastic for a day or the whole month. Maybe you’ll change one habit, or a handful. Whatever your approach, your action will be part of something bigger.
At the end of July, we’ll bring everyone back together for a fun, after-hours celebration at Wastebusters. A chance to share stories, celebrate wins and wrap up the month. (Stay tuned – we’ll set up a separate event for that one!)
Plastic Free July is a global movement with over 100 million people taking part around the world! And this is your chance to be part of it, right here in Wānaka.
So grab your free ticket, bring a mate, and join the movement – feel-good local action for global impact.
Yummy food & drinks provided.
