Plates & Perspectives
Description
Plates & Perspectives is a free dinner series in Perth bringing strangers together over shared food to celebrate different cultures. Each event spotlights a different cultural community who show up as co-hosts, sharing food, stories, and a slice of their world.
The format is deliberately fun: think Human Bingo, speed friending, and a shared table rather than a lecture or cultural showcase. Guests leave having tried something new, learned something surprising, and met someone they never would have otherwise.
At a time when loneliness is rising and echo chambers are everywhere, Plates & Perspectives creates the kind of in-person encounter that algorithms can’t replicate.
Free to attend. Open to everyone. No cultural knowledge required just curiosity and an appetite.

FAQs
- Is it free?
Yes, completely free.
- What should I bring?
Traditional food from a desi culture (Pakistan, India, or Bangladesh) to share, that’s where “bring a plate” comes from! Traditional dress from that culture is welcome and encouraged if you have it. Beyond that, just bring your curiosity and an open mind.
- Who can come?
Everyone — you don’t need to be from Pakistan, India, or Bangladesh to join. The whole point is bringing different backgrounds together in one room and to meet someone new!
