Event description

Clay and Play is a unique experience for primary aged children combining pottery, craft and bush play.

What do we do?

  • Little people and their adults are welcomed with bubbles. Take your time to settle in, there is no rush. Adults are welcome to participate, hang back or pick up and drop off.
  • Once everyone is settled and familiar with the space, we get our hands into the clay! Little artists are guided through pinch pot and slab rolling techniques. Most importantly, they are encouraged to explore the sensory quality of pottery. 1 special object will be selected for bisque firing.
  • Then we head off to explore the beautiful bush land directly surrounding the studio. Depending on the season this can include muddy puddles, monarch butterflies and marvellous mushrooms.
  • When we return to the studio a picnic of fresh fruit is provided.
  • We spend the remainder of the session crafting and drawing the natural objects collected on the walk.
