Event description

Play in the Park - Natural Dyes & Flags

As part of WA Tree Festival, join Educated by Nature for a hands-on, tactile play opportunity to create a personalised flag. This awesome event encourages kids to discover how manipulating natural materials can create something beautiful and truly unique.

Set within the tranquil surrounds of Bina Parkland, participants will use the traditional art of Hapa Zome (Japanese form of natural dye extraction) to make an artistic flag. The skill of whittling is then used to reveal the inner beauty of a stick to create a flagpole using simple carving tools.

Important information:

  • Please meet near the Playground at Bina Parkland.
  • Parents and carers must stay on site for the duration of the session and are encouraged to join-in.
  • This session is open to kids of all ages.
  • This is a drop-in session - so feel free to bring a picnic and enjoy a day in the park.  Bina Parkland is located within Princess Wallington Reserve.  The park includes traditional play equipment, nature play and a flying fox with plenty of grassed area for picnics.
  • Please wear appropriate clothing for outdoor play.
