An all ages experience to explore mindfulness and the activation of your senses through creativity and the earthy sensory qualities of clay. You will make functional or decorative objects using hand building and decorative techniques, that can be kiln fired, and you can then take home and cherish.

Working with clay has many health benefits arising from the literal physical and physiological connection with Nature, including the activation of your senses, promoting a deep meditative state. This can help reduce blood pressure and allow your breathing to regulate itself, which in turn reduces cortisol levels and stress, while increasing muscle relaxation. Just 45 minutes of working with clay can significantly reduce cortisol levels. Creative activities also enliven the senses, exploring the tactile and visual qualities, this process will be supported by sensory enhanced guided meditations, to enhance the peacefulness of being in the moment. Other health benefits of working with clay include providing a low-impact exercise for the hands, which can also contribute to less inflammation in the joints. A fun and playful session to boost both joy and tranquillity.

Session 1: Play with Clay: Pinch Method

This workshop will introduce you to the pinch method of hand building with clay. You will be guided on how to then apply surface texture and decoration methods.

Session 2: Play with Clay: Coil Method

This workshop will introduce you to the coil method of hand building with clay. You will be guided on how to roll the clay, which can be shaped into different forms. Demonstration and support will also be provided to guide you how to apply texture and decoration methods.

All pieces will be kiln fired and you will be emailed when the pieces are ready to be collected. Suitable for beginners and participants who have previous experience with hand building techniques. Children aged under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
