Play with Purpose (8-12's) - For Neurodivergent & Active learners
Event description
Does your child have boundless energy, a quirky imagination, or a mind that races with ideas? Play for Purpose is an after-school programme designed to celebrate that spark. Through physical theatre, storytelling, and improvisation, children discover how to channel their creativity into confidence, connection, and fun.
Over eight weeks, participants will:
Build social skills and teamwork in a supportive environment
Strengthen focus through playful activities that encourage movement and imagination
Develop social connection and communication skills they can use beyond the stage
Celebrate their unique style of thinking while learning to appreciate others
Find belonging in a group where every voice matters
We celebrate playful energy in a positive way. Every session creates space for learners to explore, experiment, and express themselves, while growing the confidence to shine in their own way.
The class is run by Improv Taranaki and is facilitated by Phill Spear. He's the founder of Improv Taranaki and is passionate about creating experiences that enable growth, while remaining safe and nurturing. He holds qualifications in Positive Psychology & Youth Work and is fascinated by the applications of improvisation to boost essential life skills.
For children that would like a more drama-focused course, we also run Drama for Life - check our other listings to find this.
Spots are limited - register now, or get in touch if you have any questions. We’d love to welcome your young creative to the group.
