Play as the Foundational Activity of Childhood: Understanding & Observing Your Child at Play presented by Paulene Hanna
Event description
Play as the Foundational Activity of Childhood
How can we as adults recognise and support self initiated play? Finding the space for childhood imagination and creativity to flourish in a world of material abundance.
The first in a series of parent/caregiver talks based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. Presented by Little Folk Steiner at The Revillaging Project.
Our program of talks offers an opportunity to explore the life of the young child, and the great joys and challenges of parenting in the context of the picture of the human being given by Rudolf Steiner. Little Folk Steiner talks seek to offer parents, grandparents, carers and early childhood educators inspiration, information and support.

Paulene Hanna is an early childhood teaching professional who, though retired from daily teaching practice in Steiner education, is actively involved in mentoring and supporting Steiner early childhood teachers and kindergartens. Paulene works with the challenge of an increasingly fearfully orientated community, which lacks the time and space for children generally. She supports parents to understand their children’s behaviour and to enjoy the blessings that being with children offers. Paulene is passionate about the promotion of child-initiated, free play as a means to a healthy foundation for later learning and life.
Note regarding Children: It is preferable parents arrange for children to be cared for at home in order for them to gain the most from this inspiring presentation. Should this not be possible, please contact Nives on hello@littlefolksteiner.org to discuss options.
