¡Pluck Plus! presents Brazi
Pluck! is thrilled to join forces with improvising flautist extraordinaire, Yael Zamir, and vocalist, percussionist and polyglot, Freda Paten in a celebration of music from Brazil and Hispano-America! Pluck invites to an evening of exuberant Latin rhythms and improvised virtuosity featuring Choro from the sunny streets of Rio, driving Baião, contemporary Brazilian jazz and everything in between.
Calling all lovers of new musical horizons and improvised mischief! Join us as we take a break from our musical globe-trotting to settle in for an extended stay in South America with inspiring musical friends.
More about the Artists:
¡Pluck!
What began as three guitarist-friends sharing with each other the music that inspires them, grew into a joyous exploration of the wonderfully varied musics for plucked strings from around the globe. Hailing from diverse musical backgrounds, their members unite around a shared love of new horizons, improvised mischief and the well placed musical dad-joke. They are guests in the traditions they explore. Their mission: to travel with humility and playfulness as far as their armada of pluckable instruments will carry them, through the myriad sonic worlds born of lumps of wood and bits of string.
Luke Andreas: guitars, percussion and vocals.
Ryan Grifitth: guitars, bass, and vocals.
Noah James: guitars, mandolin and vocals.
Yael Zamir
Yael Zamir is a musician and composer performing regularly in the Melbourne music scene. Following her study of classical flute, she shifted her focus in 2018 to more improvisatory genres, completing a Bachelor of Music in 2022 specialising in Jazz flute. More recently Yael has been performing with a variety of projects, many with an emphasis on Latin jazz.
Freda Paten
A polyglot as well as a singer, Freda loves to sing in English, but especially in French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. They love to sing jazz and international folk musics most of all, and in the last few years have had a special interest in bossa nova.
