About This Workshop
Join a focused, encouraging space where poets come together to share their work, exchange feedback, and sharpen their craft. Facilitated by poet and performer Jake Dennis, this small-group online workshop supports the creative growth of poets at all stages.
Each session is limited to 8 participants to ensure personalised, in-depth feedback. Whether you’re revising a competition piece, preparing for publication, or exploring something new, you’ll receive thoughtful insights and creative encouragement.

Facilitator
Jake Dennis (@PoetOfJazz) is a Burmese-Australian entertainer (singer, poet, actor) and educator based in Boorloo/Perth. JD’s prize-winning poetry has been published regularly across local and international arts publications since 2005. He was published in over 25 publications across twelve countries last year! A passionate, endearing, and hard-working creative professional with over 25 years of showbusiness credits, Jake Dennis captivates audiences with heartfelt soulful live performances. What should I prepare?
Have one poem ready on your device for sharing during the session. You may also email it in advance to jakedennis@hotmail.com.
What kind of feedback will I receive?
You’re welcome to request either constructive critique, general encouragement, or both—whatever best supports your needs.
What kind of feedback should I provide to others?
Offer practical suggestions and sincere encouragement. Respectful, thoughtful contributions are key.
How much feedback time will I get?
Each participant receives an equal share of the session. Please keep your poem to a reasonable length for group discussion.
Do I need anything technical?
Microsoft Teams is required. Download the app beforehand and make sure your internet connection is stable. You’ll need your poem ready on the same device. Please share your contact number in case tech support is needed.
Is this workshop open to everyone?
Yes—poets of all experience levels are welcome. A love for poetry and a spirit of sharing are all that’s required.
Is the content suitable for all ages?
This is an adult-focused space. Poems may include mature themes. Participants are encouraged to offer trigger/content warnings where appropriate.
What’s your cancellation and refund policy?
48 hours’ notice is required for cancellations. No refunds are issued for no-shows due to admin costs and limited spots.
