Poetry in the Gallery: Featuring Caron Perkal & Elaine Alarcon
Event description
Elaine Alarcon is not limited to one genre. She writes plays, fiction, nonfiction, scholarly essays, and poetry. Her poems, short stories and book reviews have appeared in the Denver Quarterly, Denver Now, Askew, Spillway, Orbis, Solo Novo, Solo Voyage, eMerge!, Salt, Flapper Press, Canyon Chronicle, The Topanga Messenger, Ironwood, Words OutLoud UK and Blue Light Press's, PANDEMIC PUZZLE POEMS. She has received three Pushcart Prize nominations for poetry, and Finishing Line Press will publish her chapbook, SOLAR MUSIC, in February. She has been a script reader for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and also the Rubicon Theatre. She has written ten-minute plays, with one of them read by professional actors for a nonpublic reading at the ETC in Santa Barbara. She recently completed a longer play about Lorca.
She has graduate degrees in Creative Writing and Modern Literature from the University of Denver and has lectured widely on the artists and writers of the Early 20th Century for Oxnard College. She is also a Paul Bowles scholar and written about his connections as a composer and fiction writer, to Lorca. Last, she credits the wonderful Tri-County Poetry community for her development as a poet.
