    Event description

There is a lot of buzz in the Western Sydney poetry community this year -- and we're here with some exciting news!

Whether you are a seasoned poet, or just finding your voice, please join us at WestWords on April 3rd for this special one-off workshop with visiting guest poet, Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon.

Natalie is an American/Australian poet, and winner of the 2018 Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize. She's won the 2019 Katharine Susannah Prichard Poetry Award, while her work was recently featured in the US on NPR's "The Great American Folk Show". She has presented at numerous literary festivals and events in both Australia and the United States, ranging from the Perth Poetry Festival to the Tucson Festival of Books. On the musical front, Natalie's poetically titled 2020 album, "You Wanted To Be The Shore, But Instead You Were The Sea," was released internationally through Proper Records and reached number #1 on the AIR Australian Independent Album Chart.

Found Word Objects Workshop with Award-winning Visual Poet Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon

    Workshop Description:
Since the time of the Dada artists and Beats, poets have been using found word objects to create poems and make cut up collage poems, or centos. Natalie Damjanovich-Napoleon will display her skills as a published found poetry artist to show writers unexpected ways of experiencing and creating poetry using found objects, or in our case, found words in the creation of new work.

You can glean an insight into her writing undertakings here:

Cost for this workshop is $20. Please contact admin@westwords.com.au if you have any questions.
