Description

Come one come all!! Join us for a celebration of all things 'word' at our next Poets' Breakfast on Sunday the 17th of September at 10:30 - 12pm at the Kincumber Neighborhood Centre, in 'the hub'. Everyone is welcome - professional wordsmiths or first timers, perform/read your poem, your song, your words, your story, your song or just come to listen to the work on offer.

This is fun gathering of writers, those who are curious, or people who simply want to listen and be inspired. There's an open mic available to ALL (don't be shy!) whether you'd like to read out your own work or the work of others that you are inspired by!). We have professional writers and absolute first timers. Bush poets and spoken word artists. Songwriters and storytellers. We gather to listen and to perform work and enjoy. There's no pressure here to be anything but yourself! You are welcome.

We are honoured to feature in this months Poets' Breakfast, the wild and wondrous singer and storyteller, Donné Restom. Donné has been developing her art for over 2 decades - whether it's performing poetry in costume on the stage with a world famous circus, making videos of her pop songs in LA, creating digital art, telling stories on stage at writers' festivals, designing websites or singing Jazz with her band hailing from the times of Billie Holiday and beyond, she follows her own way. Dripping with originality, softness, wildness and studiousness to boot Donné's stories and song will wake you up, make you laugh, make you dream and make you wish you were bold. Don't miss the chance to see this stunning performer folks, in this homespun and relaxed environment.

There's a flexibile $10 entry fee which includes a 'lite bite' - soup and muffin. If you would like to partake and contribute but can't spare the cash at this time pay a discounted price or nothing. Looking forward to gathering with you again for our 2nd Poets' Breakfast on the Central Coast.

General 'about':

Poets and poetry lovers, come one come all to help us start this monthly meeting of poets and poet enthusiasts. All are welcome. This 'event' is about sharing work, enjoying hearing other people's work, and getting together in the name of the Arts and in particular, the written and spoken word whether it is your work or the work of others.

The open mic section offers anyone who so desires a space to read their work. No need to be a professional poet (but we welcome you if you are). Song lyrics and short stories are also encouraged.

You do not need to be a poet to attend - support a friend or colleague, find inspiration in other people's work or just enjoy the ambiance as well as the tea and instant coffee and  lite bite which is included in the ticket. Some extra snacks for purchase if you like.

See you there x
