Poets Corner with Dinali Virasinghe

In its 21st year, Poets Corner returns with a wonderful series of guest poets, and you can bring along your poems to share during our Open Mike sessions.

Book for the first show of the year, with the Sri Lankan Australian poet Dinali Virasinghe. Dinali uses writing, both poetry and prose, to make sense of her place in this world, focusing on identity, belonging and nature and how this can inform a quest to create more beautiful worlds. Dinali’s experience of being a migrant and more recently her travels have shaped her ideas about belonging, home and how we are connected to each other and the Earth.

With a Masters in Environmental Management, Dinali is involved in various community building and environmental initiatives as well as teaching yoga. She finds peace and joy in wondering under tall trees and exploring biodiverse landscapes.

Dinali only began writing poetry in her 30s, finding catharsis in expressing herself in this form. She published her debut book Meandering on the Margins in 2022 and has her own blog www.beingofthisearth.com.
