Event description

Poets Morning is presented by the Callanthe Collective with poet Sally Mackinnon as Special Guest for In Consideration of Trees .  Compere will be Margy Rose.

The Calanthe Collective  is about fostering and encouraging the growth of poetry. The group organises poetry events on Tamborine Mountain. The Collective is inspired by the lives and work of poet and activist Judith Wright and philosopher and writer Jack McKinney. They are now also publishing works as the Callanthe Press including

  • The View Westward: Tamborine Mountain poems, by Raymond Curtis.
  • Botanical Skin  by Vanessa Page
  • Wide River by Jane Frank
  • Green Dance by Jenna Woodhouse
  • Time Machine by Anthony Lawrence

Sally Mackinnon-I divide my time between the beloved mountains of Beechmont/Binna Burra and the iconic beaches and rivers of the southern Gold Coast and northern NSW.

I ground myself physically, emotionally and energetically inside these landscapes, searching for words to speak for their moods, rich beauty and ecology.
I am a surfer, river paddler and bushwalker. I practice Zen, yoga and qiqong daily.
I am utterly inspired by the poetry and life of Mary Oliver and I follow the advice of writer Anne Lamott who suggests that getting published won’t heal your life, but writing every day will.

The Poets Morning will also feature   BLACKBOARD POETS (If you're new to these pop-up poetry events, that's our version of an open mic session that musos and comics have. It's first in first served for about a dozen spots and no more, one poem only So get your name on the board early.

This event is a free event hosted by the Callanthe Collective and we encourage a donation  at the door in order for them to keep up the good work.  BYO coffee and brunch.
