Event description

This Pojagi-style workshop (Level One) introduces you to a simple, machine-based version of the traditional Korean patchwork technique. Often made with translucent fabrics, Pojagi is a beautiful and practical way to use up small scraps left over from other creative projects.

In this 6 hour workshop (3 hours each Thursday evening), you’ll create a small curtains that can be used on a door or window, using adaptations of the traditional method. All materials are provided, but you're welcome to bring pieces of old clothing or fabric pieces (light cotton or sheer, lightweight fabric is best).

Suitable for those with basic sewing machine skills, you'll learn how to join and finish seams with clean, reversible techniques, no lining needed. It's a wonderful way to stitch together memories from meaningful fabric, creating something functional, beautiful, and full of story

This workshop is limited to 8 participants.

For those with more experience in sewing, stay tuned, as we will also be running a Level 2 and 3 Pojagi style workshop in the near future. (Register your interest at info@upcyclenewcastle.org.au).

PLEASE NOTE: All of our classes and workshops are created using circular economy principles. This means we love using many recycled and reclaimed fabrics, and haberdashery items for our sewing projects. We are deeply passionate about diverting textile waste from landfill and we do this through upcycling.
