About Peter Alexander

Peter Alexander has had a long history of serving for SAPOL, commencing in 1967. After two years as a patrol officer, he spent 22 years in the Criminal Investigation Branch before being seconded to the Police Association of South Australia as president in 1991, and position he served in until 2008. At the time of his secondment, he was a detective sergeant Major Crime Squad. He was awarded the National Medal 1982, Clasp to the National Medal 1992, Centenary Medal 2001 and Australian Police Medal 2001. Peter was also President of the Police Federation of Australia (PFA) (1999-2008).

In 2002, Peter graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Deakin University) and in 20023 a Graduate Diploma Legal Practice. He worked as a Solicitor at Tindall Gask Bentley Lawyers (2008 - 2020) and his own firm, Peter Alexander Lawyers (2020 - 2022), before becoming a Consultant in 2022.

Peter is a board member of the Police Credit Union - South Australia, Remuneration Tribunal - South Australia and League Director - South Adelaide Football Club. He has life memberships of the Police Association of South Australia, Police Federation of Australia, South Australian National Football League, South Adelaide Football Club and the Sturt Basketball Club.

About Dr Matthew Sorell
Dr Matthew Sorell is Principal Consultant and Founder of Digital Forensic Sciences Australia Pty Ltd, Senior Lecturer in Telecommunications and Multimedia Engineering at the University of Adelaide, Adjunct Professor of Digital Forensic Science at the Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia), and Honorary Consul of Estonia in Adelaide. In 2018 his work in wearable technology forensics was recognised in the International Digital Investigation and Intelligence Awards in the UK, and from 2019 to 2022 he was Scientific Advisor to FORMOBILE, an EU project which developed standards and techniques for mobile phones from crime scene to court room.
Drawing on 8 years of consulting experience in over 250 criminal investigations, Dr Sorell will highlight the rate of change of technology over the last 25 years, and how the digital traces we leave behind assist in the investigation of crime.

This will be a dinner event with everyone having an opportunity to purchase their own dinner.

The charge for the event includes a drink upon arrival and contributes to the organisation of the event.
