Event description
Policy Talks 2024: Policy for a Gender Equitable Future
Join us for an engaging discussion of how government action can drive gender equity in the workplace.
As the largest employer in the Southern Hemisphere and the largest employer of women in Australia, the NSW Government plays a critical role in shaping equitable working lives. In this important conversation about government’s capacity to build a more equitable economy, the speakers will discuss in-depth case studies and innovative policy approaches to advancing workplace gender equity.
The discussion will draw on insights from the JMI report, Building a more equitable future of work for women in NSW: Opportunities for government action, authored by Professor Elizabeth Hill, Professor Rae Cooper AO, Talara Lee and Dr Suneha Seetahul. This will be followed by a Q&A and networking drinks.
Speakers include:
- The Hon Courtney Houssos MLC, Minister for Finance, Domestic Manufacturing and Government Procurement, and Natural Resources
- Dr Annie Pettitt, Associate Director in NSW Treasury’s Women’s Economic Outcomes Team
- Professor Rae Cooper AO, Director of the Australian Centre for Gender Equality and Inclusion @ Work, University of Sydney
- Professor Elizabeth Hill, Deputy Director of the Australian Centre for Gender Equality and Inclusion @ Work, University of Sydney

Held in collaboration with the NSW Policy Community of Practice, these events aim to build a community of policy professionals that reaches across sectors and foster innovation and inclusivity in policymaking at all levels of government. Policy Talks was launched in May with an event on Affordable and Accessible Housing.
