Learn to create a sculpture with one of Australia's top mixed media artist Tania Spencer.Tania is renowned for her wire sculptures at the Sculpture by the Sea in Cottesloe & Bondi as well as many exhibitions around the state.
You will learn to use wire to create a sculpture with using the mannequin that will be loaned to you to turn it into a native pollinator eg Butterfly, Dragon fly, Beetles, Birds, Bugs or whatever you choose. OR you can use textiles or clothing to dress the mannequin and create a pollinator to sit on the mannequin.You will learn to use textiles and wire to create your masterpiece.Theme:Wildflowers and Pollinators. This will go into an exhibition that will run during the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show 13-25th September 2021.The launch of the exhibition will be on the 13th September 2021.
You may wish to turn the mannequin into a life size pollinator using wire, textiles and any other items OR you may want to create a smaller sculpture to sit on a mannequin.Let you imagination run wild.
What to bring: Suggestions only colourful balls of wool coloured florist wire, copper wire, Aluminium wire, jewellery and beads, rusty nuts & bolts.old scraps of material and old scarves particularly silk could be useful.
Pliers and side cutters - workshop size,Scissors that will cut fabric, fabric glue or white glue. Buttons are also very useful.
Research pollinators and see what you can find to inspire you. Lacewing, butterflies, moths, ants, wasps, native bees, beetles, birds ,possums, native flies and so many more.
