Creating pollinator habitat in the smallest of urban spaces
Join Oxley Creek Catchment Association (OCCA) and Brisbane City Council (BCC) for a free, hands-on, community workshop celebrating the tiny workforce quietly powering pollination. From bees and butterflies to beetles, insect pollinators are looking for some wingman support in urban spaces.
We’ll head into the garden to get our hands dirty, planting a vibrant mix of pollinator-favourite food plants to encourage foraging and promote pollination.
Next, we'll meet the team behind the Pollinator Project, including Fflur Collier, a BCC Wildlife Conservation Partnerships Officer and self-confessed invertebrate enthusiast. Fflur will dive into the incredible relationships between plants and pollinators, share practical ways to boost habitat in urban spaces and show how anyone can become a citizen scientist for pollinator conservation.
Finally, we’ll wind down with some well-earned refreshments and a chance to chat, swap ideas and admire our handiwork.
No experience needed — just bring a hat, water bottle and closed-toe shoes. Spots are limited, so register now and come see what all the buzz is about!
