Polyrhythmalysis IV is the fourth iteration exploring the use of diy kinetics, percussive robotics ,sine tone generators, modular sequencing and roaming performers to create fields of unquantized spatialised rhythm and sound, an audible ecosystem of humans, electricity and sculptural detritis. (PR 1 - Why Listen To Plants RMIT Gallery / PR 2 - HAIR ARI / PR 3 - Conduction, Footscray)

Dylan Martorell

Focusing on the use of site-specific gleaned materials and incorporating elements of upcycling, DIY culture, robotics and alternative power sources, Martorell’s projects focus on concepts of transience, sustainability, Improvisation and community based group dynamics, his work is drawn to ways in which music travels through space and is a catalyst for cross-cultural reciprocation.

Martorell has exhibited and performed nationally and internationally including the Jakarta, Tokyo, Taipei, Tarrawarra and Kochi Muziris Biennale.

His practice incorporates, plant based music scores, costume and instrument building, installation and performance.   He plays with Snawklor, Kelping, Hi God People and was a long term member of John Nixons, The Donkeys Tale.

Tarquin Manek

Tarquin Manek is an artist based in Melbourne whose current solo projects include Tarquin Manek, Silzedrek, Static Cleaner Lost Reward, LST and M Quake. ‘Disturbed and enchanted environmnents’, ‘deep spatial dynamics’, and ‘higher dub logic’ are all phrases used to describe Manek’s work. It’s revealed in a way that spurs on the attentive listener through live settings and in his production - the details so detailed and calling to be heard multiple times for an exercise in a choose your own story-song. Manek’s ability to weave between the characters of his aliases through 21st century avant folk jazz improvisation, dream(pop) (post) punk, dubbed in and out clarinet, syncopated syco rhythm and beyond, displays a certain lunacy and obsession that only someone of his calibre could possess.

Lauded by Resident Advisor as Blackest Ever Black’s MPV, Manek has several releases on the now defunct label, as well as a slew of other releases and tracks on A Colourful Storm, Chapter Music, Purely Physical and Kashual Plastik; with upcoming releases on Low Company, 5 Gate Temple, and A Colourful Storm.

Mia Alexander

Mia Alexander is a Melbourne-based punk saxophonist who skronks/schronks/blonks and belts/welts/pelts out layer after layer of harsh, coarse sound. Unrelenting and Unceasing.
