• How much does it cost to attend?

  This event is free to attend. Show your Humanitix ticket QR code when you arrive to check in.

• Who can attend?

  This event is for EVERYONE! The LGBTIQA+ community, their family and friends. You do not have to be a Monash University student or staff member to attend Monash Sport facilities, everyone is welcome!

• What does inclusion mean?

  We use the term ‘inclusive’ to highlight that this event is an inclusive, accessible and safe space for the LGBTIQA+ community and their peers, families and friends. Click here, to read more on Monash Sport's Sport at Monash Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plan.

• Do you have accessible entrances/exits and amenities?

  Yes - accessibility features include: Wheelchair-accessible ramp at the Scenic Boulevard main entrance, pool hoist for entry/exit to the main & leisure pools, Female, male, and all-gender/accessible toilets, Sensory Space for breaks and a Quiet room available at the main building opposite. • What can I expect from Pool Pride Night?

  This event is all about welcoming you to the Doug Ellis Swimming Pool. These are more intimate sessions where you can feel comfortable in the space, featuring: Lap swimming, Spa, sauna, and steam room access, Snacks, Background music and Monash REDI resource hub.

• Monash Sport is a Watch Around Water facility. What does this mean?

  Watch Around Water is a joint initiative program between Aquatics and Recreation Victoria and Life Saving Victoria to assist in the education of parents/guardians about the appropriate supervision of children around aquatic environments. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a guardian.

• Do I have to swim or will there be other activities available?

  It's completely up to you if you would like to swim at Pool Pride Night, but we do hope you will find this to be the perfect opportunity to try out our pools in an inclusive and comfortable environment.

• Getting there

  We recommend travelling by car, bus or train to this event. Car parking is available on campus near Monash Sport. The closest car park to Monash Sport is the south-east car park, highlighted pink on the university parking map. Parking is free on campus after 4pm the night of this event. Please follow the parking signs.

• What is the Dry Zone?

  The Dry Zone is where you will find card games/lawn games set up for those not wanting to swim.

• Will security be present throughout the event?

  Security will be roaming the campus as usual on this day. Should you feel unsafe at any time please see a Monash Sport staff member. Security can be contacted on 9902 7777 (ext: 27777) or for emergencies 333 from an internal Monash Sport phone (valid across all campuses).

• Why are we hosting this event?

  We're hosting Pool Pride Night to show our support for the LGBTIQA+ community and to communicate that our facilities are a safe space where everyone can feel comfortable participating in aquatic activities with everyone else without fear of resistance for being who you are.
