Popcorn and Pictures at the Library: Bus Stop Films
Description
Join us on International Day of People with Disability for a free screening of four short films from Bus Stop Films, a disability-led social enterprise and leader in inclusive filmmaking.
Settle in with some popcorn as you enjoy The Interviewer, Hopeful Romantic, Sunshine and Stairs; four short films that showcase the power of inclusive storytelling. After the screening, stay for tea, conversation and the chance to connect with fellow film lovers.
We'll also be joined by VisAbility WA, providing information about the services and support available to people living with blindness or vision impairment and their families.
A little bit about each film:
The Interviewer
Thomas Howell gets more than he bargained for at his interview with a prestigious law firm: an insult about his tie, a rendition of Harry Potter and the chance to change the lives of father and son.
Hopeful Romantic
Daisy is looking for love but it's all going terribly wrong. If only she could be someone else, someone 'cooler'. After encountering a ‘cool’ girl in a bar bathroom, Daisy learns things aren’t always as perfect as they seem and decides the only way to find love is to be completely herself.
Sunshine
A waitress with Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) notices that one of her customers is extremely upset. She goes out of her way to try and make the customer feel better, and little does she realise that her efforts have a far greater impact that she could have imagined.
Stairs
A young man's dream to make a living in Ulaanbaatar is put to the test when he must navigate the social and physical obstacles in his path.
