Porangui: Chicago Immersion
The Chakaruna World Bridging Tour
Join Poranguí for a 2 day experience of Music is Medicine: The Chicago Immersion - May 23rd & 24th. Poranguí will be live in concert with Ashley Klein on Thursday evening, followed by a Music is Medicine workshop Friday afternoon, and a Sound Healing Journey Friday evening. Tickets are available for single events as well as for the full weekend experience. All events are likely to sell out, so get your tickets in advance as they may not be available at the door.
The Chakaruna World Bridging Tour draws its inspiration from the ancient Quechua concept of "Chakaruna," meaning World Bridger. "Chaka" represents the Bridge, while "Runa" symbolizes the People, reflecting the sacred duty of forging connections between the tangible and the intangible, the Earth and the Spirit, the individual and the collective. Through this tour, Poranguí invites us to step into our own roles as Chakarunas, intricately weaving our spirits into the vibrant tapestry of life and synchronizing with the pulsating heartbeat of the Earth.
Poranguí Live in Concert
Thursday, 7pm Doors, 8-10 (Poranguí)
Poranguí masterfully weaves ancestral songs & indigenous rhythms from around the world as a one-man orchestra. Accompanied by the visionary co-facilitator Ashley Klein, they extend an invitation to an embodied experience that seamlessly bridges the seen and unseen worlds. Through the universal language of music, dance, and authentic expression, Poranguí’s live improvised performances and Ashley’s spoken guidance coalesce with captivating visual projections, promising an unparalleled odyssey that leaves us more whole, alive, and deeply connected.
Music Is Medicine Workshop
Friday, 2pm Doors, 2:30pm-5pm workshop
Join Poranguí as we deepen into an interactive vocal activation and body percussion workshop, drawing from Poranguí’s signature "Music is Medicine" retreat curriculum. This workshop is a celebration of the human body as the most intricate instrument, where rhythm, sound, and movement converge in a polyrhythmic dance of life. By embracing our unique voice and cultivating expression in a safe & celebratory container, we sing our souls and braid our voice together to amplify healing and beauty. No experience necessary, this is for all!
Sound Healing Journey
Friday, 7pm Doors, 7:30--9:30pm
The two-day experience culminates in a ceremonial sound healing session in the evening, offering a sanctuary for reflection, rejuvenation, and spiritual communion. Bring a yoga mat, eye mask, blanket, and anything else you need to be comfortable laying down for this meditative sound soak.
