Porirua: 'Pike River' Film Fundraiser
Event description
Join us for a fundraiser screening of Pike River. Based on the Pike River Mine disaster of 2010, the story follows the subsequent, years-long battle for justice led by Anna Osborne (played by Melanie Lynskey) and Sonya Rockhouse (played by Robyn Malcolm), two friends whose respective husband and son—along with 27 other workers—were killed during an underground explosion.
We will be fundraising to support our local campaigns. A portion of the money raised will be going towards supporting Resene workers who are fighting for a living wage at the Naenae paint factory. Our community has rallied to tautoko these workers in their fight for fairness and a living wage!
Please bring cash along to participate in the raffle and purchase one of our limited edition Living Wage teatowels.
