Event description

Join artist Cherine Fahd in conversation with UTS Curator, Stella Rosa McDonald, for a lunchtime talk exploring the provocations at the heart of POSE, a new collection display celebrating recent donations to the UTS Art Collection.

On view at the UTS Tower foyer between 9 May – 3 June 2025, POSE brings together two photographic series by Cherine Fahd—Plinth Piece (2014) and Shadowing Portraits (2014–16)—that subvert traditional modes of portraiture and expand the possibilities of self-representation.

Fahd and McDonald will unpack the playful and political dimensions of photographic performance, the porous boundaries of self and other, and the ways in which gesture, embodiment, and mimicry can trouble the authority of the photographic gaze.

This is a free event open to the public.
