Positive Youth Development in Aotearoa (PYDA) Training
Event description
The PYDA, or Positive Youth Development Aotearoa resource, has been developed by a collaborative of youth experts to support people who work with, and for, young people across a range of professions. The PYDA was originally created in 2011 and in 2020 it was updated to better reflect the current practices in Positive Youth Development including the cultural models and ideas that are imperative to supporting the development of young people in Aotearoa. The Positive Youth Development framework aids those of us whose work impacts rangatahi to really get what it means to support them. Read the latest version here.
The PYDA training we intend to run will be an interactive and informative look at the new edition of the PYDA. This will include and overview of key outcomes and approaches within the PYDA as well as an exploration for how they can be applied to the youth workers’ professional context. It is important Youth Workers have a good understanding of the document to better guide their programmes, services and decisions that will impact young people.
