Naarm/Melbourne group Postures seek moments of solace with their cinematic brand of indie and chamber pop.

First conceived as the solo project of songwriter Troy Sheehan, the outfit expanded into a four-piece (Dan Oke, Bridget Chilver & Reuben Dyer) with a focus on lush arrangements and dynamic tension, coloured with “twee” sensibilities.

Their debut album, “Together, Slowly” (releasing 14th of August), was largely written during the 2020-21 lockdown. The album’s confessional songwriting captures early heartbreak and suburban stillness, threading personal grief with a looming sense of global unease. Drawing on dreams as a form of escape using a dramatic orchestral palette, the songs explore coming of age in a time of unprecedented uncertainty. Co-produced by Imogen Cygler, who also provides orchestral arrangements across its nine tracks, the album pairs sweeping strings and woodwinds with textured guitars, piano and drum machines, drawing heavily on film scores.
