Pottery Hand building - Term 4 2026 - Tutor Melinda Solly
Description
This course is designed to provide students with the fundamental skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience needed to work confidently with clay. Guided by an experienced and highly skilled tutor, students will learn a range of hand-building techniques while developing their creative practice.
The versatility of hand-building offers endless opportunities for creating both functional and sculptural forms. Throughout the course, students will explore a variety of surface decoration techniques, including textural impressions, sgraffito, slips, underglazes, and brush-on, pouring, and dipping glazes.
Each week, the tutor will demonstrate a specific technique and provide guidance as students develop their work. Intermediate and experienced students may choose to follow the weekly project or discuss their own ideas with the tutor and work independently at their own pace, with support available as required.
