Pounamu and Kōhatu Carving with Reframe Wānanga

We are excited, once again, to offer the opportunity to work with Tūhono Taonga, Tūhono Tāngata to create individual pieces of Pounamu and Kōhatu taonga. We will guide you through the kaupapa and create your very own taonga as a gift to yourself or someone else.

Pounamu can be used as a grounding and sensory tool. It is also helpful with creating a positive atmosphere with its energy - Mauri - bringing positive effects on the individual wearer. But more importantly it is a reminder of our place in the world, a unique creation made from a piece of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

This is wānanga is for anyone aged 13-24 years old and will run for most of the day, so please allow plenty of time in the day to complete your mahi - there will be additional time and help available to complete the pieces on the day as needed.

(Appropriate clothing i.e. not loose and okay to get wet/dirty is advised due to working with spinning machinery and water, health and safety conditions will apply).
