Power and Peace: A conversation with world-leading futurists Dr Ivana Milojević and Professor Sohail Inayatullah

How do we imagine the future? Who shapes these imaginings, and what do they reveal about our world? In our search for an elusive global peace, who has the power to shape our futures, and how can we re-share control and make this process more inclusive?

Join Victoria Mulligan (co-founder, Speculative Futures Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland) for a provocative discussion with two of the most influential figures in global futures studies, Dr Ivana Milojević and Professor Sohail Inayatullah.  They’ll reflect on lessons and insights from four decades of pioneering work in the field, explore the rich history of futures thinking and introduce the concept of "peace futures," a new perspective in shaping a more inclusive and peaceful world.

This event will explore key themes such as:

  • The role of futures in promoting peace and resolving conflicts.
  • The importance of inclusive and diverse visions of the future.
  • The evolution of futures thinking over the past four decades.
  • Practical tools and methods for constructive conflict transformation.

The event will take place on Monday 8 July, 5:00pm - 7:00 pm at GridAKL / Futures Lab, Auckland New Zealand. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Professor Inayatullah and Dr Milojević during a Q&A session following the discussion.
