Purse & Patriarchy: Who gets the wealth?
Event description
A Women’s Giving Circle Conversation on Wealth, Power & Change
Thursday 24 July | Byron Surf Club
Australia is on the cusp of the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history, with more than $3.5 trillion expected to move from baby boomers to Gen X and millennials over the next two decades. But when we look at wealth closely, we know it's not just a simple transaction; it’s a tangle of power, identity, belief systems, and deeply held family dynamics.
We’ll unpack the gendered dynamics of wealth, including how older women are often excluded from financial decision-making, face barriers to literacy and confidence, and are too often patronised or dismissed by financial advisors.
We'll also explore how younger women are reshaping financial culture through ethical investing, values-based giving, and collective ownership.
