Description
Presented by MAV, with support from City of Melbourne, Creative Victoria, Creative Australia, NEDA (National Ethic Disability Alliance), Waipapa Taumata Rau Auckland University, RMIT and Kings ARI Join Las Abuelas for a relaxed morning embroidery workshop exploring memoria through making, conversation, and collective care.
This intergenerational workshop invites participants of all skill levels to come together around embroidery as a practice of remembering, storytelling, and connection.
Working alongside members of Spanish Elderly Group of North Melbourne, a group of 60+ women who have been meeting for the last 35 years. Participants will create small, embroidered works responding to personal and collective memories.
These pieces may voluntarily become part of the exhibition space or taken home right after the workshop.
No prior embroidery experience is required; materials will be provided. The workshop series is being presented across two weekends on Sunday 24th May and Saturday 30th May. Registration needed and commitment to attend both workshops is a must. We have very limited spots available for this very special opportunity.
Come stitch, share stories, and contribute to a living archive of memory made by many hands.
