PANEL: After the Winter Olympics and Paralympics - The Future of Winter Sports
Sport holds a special cultural relevance in the hearts of Australians, and winter sport is front of mind for those who call the Alps home. In the wake of Australia’s best ever Winter Olympic performance in Milano Cortina 2026, what comes next for winter sports at home? As climate change reshapes our alpine seasons, this panel brings together athletes, scientists and community voices to explore what the future holds for our snow and mountain communities that make this achievement possible. This is a conversation about parts of our mountain culture that are at risk under climate change, and what we can still do to protect our alpine future. Panellists: Mia ‘Miff’ Rennie — Sports Commentator & Freestyle Skier Liana France — Para Alpine Skier Dr. Andrew Watkins — Climate Scientist Paul Manders — XTM Global Sales Manager Moderated by Dr. Lily O’Neill — Lawyer & POW Director
