Description

I remember working a full time job within community mental health, and I carefully started my private practice part time. I was lucky in that the agency I worked for allowed me to use my own office for private practice for just 5 hours a week. But, what started off as 5 hours a week quicly grew into something more, and I had to rent an external space. A space that I ended up leasing just the following year. But, before all of that, I remember crunching numbers, wondering if I was ready to take the leap to start my private practice full time. Wondering if it was worth the trade off of the 10 year student loan forgiveness plan (if you know, you know) and wondering if I'll be able to survive. I sat in this indecision for months. For months, I crunched the same numbers over and over, but I didn't need to just know the numbers: I needed to decide. So, after 9 years in private practice... and offering 1:1 private practice consultations, I decided to create a structured intensive for those of you who want to start, but are unsure when and how.

This small-group intensive is designed to help you move through that uncertainty with clarity, structure, and direction.

This is not a large workshop or passive training. This is a small, in-person intensive limited to 10 participants, designed to give you space to ask questions, think through decisions, and leave with a clearer path forward. We will talk about paperwork, incorporating and when to incorporate, how I manage my book keeping, and what I wish I was told when I started my private practice. The tides of marketing have changed as social media has been introduced into our lives, we will talk about digital visibility and ethical marketing, and will brainstorm a plan to build a practice that is unique and sustainable to you.

Since I started my private practice, I have led workshops and keynotes for fortune 500 companies, written for large digital magazines, started a group practice, and rented out office spaces for therapists. While outcomes are not guaranteed, I will also offer an space for Q&A where you can ask questions about avenues outside of clinical work. You know, the stuff that they don't tell you in school.

What we’ll cover

  • Foundational setup and required documentation

  • Business structure (sole proprietor vs S-corp)

  • Financial considerations and working with an accountant

  • Insurance vs private pay and how to decide what aligns

  • Marketing and building an ethical, aligned digital presence

FAQs

  • How is parking?

There is valet parking below the building that is cash only. Sometimes, they are not open on weekends and if this is the case during the workshop, then you are able to park in the structure. Otherwise, there is street parking in residential areas, there is metered parking across the building on Dickens ($1 per hour) and across the street is the Sherman Oaks Galleria where there is underground parking. Should you choose to visit one of their restaurants or coffee shops after, you may be able to have your ticket validated. Please note, Alyssa Marie Wellness is not responsible for your parking.

  • Will there be food?

I will be providing light bites and refreshments. We have water and tea onsite that you will have access to! You are also welcome to bring your own water bottle and fill it at our in office cooler. If you'd like to connect with the other participants afterward, there are many restaurants across the street at the Sherman Oaks Galleria and within the vicinity! Since it will be a Saturday in Los Angeles, I do encourage exploring the area!

  • What is this about renting an office from Alyssa Marie Wellness?

I offer a limited number of thoughtfully curated therapy offices designed to support clinical work. The space includes a private hallway and features that support client privacy and flow.

Attendees who choose to rent an office space within one year of the workshop may apply the cost of their ticket toward their first month’s rent, pending availability and mutual fit.

Virtual address services may also be available. Attendees who choose to use the space as a virtual address may receive their first month complimentary with a minimum commitment (details provided upon request).

    Please note:

    • Office rentals are subject to availability and are not guaranteed

    • A separate agreement and approval process is required

    • Mail must be picked up in person; forwarding services are not available
