Accessible Assessment and Pedagogies: A Practical
Event description
Developing accessible assessment and pedagogy is especially critical when students have language and/or attentional difficulties; what if there were some simple things schools could do to make learning and assessment easier for all students to understand, from the outset? World-leading collaborative research in three large secondary schools demonstrated that proactively designing classroom instruction and assessment for accessibility makes a positive difference for students and teachers.
In this Forum, C4IE researchers will explain accessibility and why it matters in assessment. Evidence-based, practical and detailed processes for designing out barriers and implementing inclusive practices in summative assessment and pedagogy will be discussed. This forum will include workshop-style activities where participants can receive direct feedback on their own assessment task sheets and methods to improve accessibility.
