Joel and Jodi love playing with musicality and finding new and fun ways to respond to moments in songs. In this workshop, Jodi and Joel will share the toolkit of musical moves (for both leads and follows!) that they love to use - including different breaks, slow-downs, and how to change up some classic moves. Everything you need for leads and follows to match music on the fly and look amazing!

Who is this workshop for? To get the most out of the workshop, it is strongly suggested that attendees be comfortable with 8-beat swing outs.

YOUR TEACHERS: Joel and Jodi have been dancing and teaching for many years, offering classes and workshops in Brisbane and interstate. They share a passion for fun, zany classes that will have you rolling in the aisles, while also giving you practical tools for improving and expanding your dancing. Joel loves all styles of swing dancing, and has taught blues, balboa, and lindy hop for a couple of decades. With a background in science communication, improv, and musical theatre, he brings a unique perspective on teaching, dancing and performing. Jodi has a love of solo movement and how that translates into amazing partner dancing. She has taught blues, lindy hop, and solo jazz workshops, and ran the Brisbane ladies solo performance troupe The Cat’s Meow for five years. Jodi and Joel’s dancing styles pop with creativity, playfulness, and musicality, which they bring to the fore in their classes. Combined with a focus on fundamental techniques, taught within a practical framework, they’ll give you the tools you need to take your dancing to the next level.
